The Tobin Room is the latest service friendly enhancement project designed to accommodate patient families with a home like setting while their family member remains in the hospital.

This unique project was made possible through the vision and generosity of Marcella Tobin to upgrade the living quarters of families who are experiencing the exhausting efforts of caring for a family member in the hospital. Ms. Tobin asked that at her death, her house be deeded to the McPherson Healthcare Foundation for this expressed purpose.

The McPherson Healthcare Foundation Board of Directors with the assistance of Memorial Hospital staff devised a plan by which the sale of this property could accommodate these families on campus rather than using her residence. A room that brings all the amenities of home was then constructed. Additional funds were also endowed for housing assistance of families requiring additional medical services outside of Memorial Hospital. The Tobin Housing Voucher is available through the House Supervisor at Memorial Hospital and is accepted by designated hotels in McPherson, Hutchinson, Salina, Kansas City and Wichita. Attending Physicians of those patients being transferred to other hospitals will issue the voucher as determined by the level of need.
