Safe Kids of McPherson County Fund
The Safe Kids of McPherson County Fund shall be designated for the promotion, education, facilitation and equipment of child passenger safety in McPherson County. The fund will enhance the overall safety of all in McPherson County.
The first project of SKMC has been focused on child car seat safety. Car seat technicians are on call at any time for car seat checks for individuals, and car seat check lanes can be scheduled in any McPherson County town during the year.

Did you know that. . .
- Seventy-five percent of children ages 4-8 who died in automobile crashes in 2004 in Kansas were not restrained.
- Car seats, when correctly installed and used, are extremely effective in saving children's lives, reducing the risk of death by as much as 71% for infants.
- Booster seats can reduce the risk of death and injury to children through age 7 by nearly 60%, according to Partners for Child Passenger Safety.
- Each year approximately 1,800 children ages 14 and under are killed as occupants in motor vehicles, and more than 280,000 are injured.
- Only about 65% of adults in Kansas wear seatbelts. It's even worse for children between 5-14 with fewer than 50% using seatbelts properlty. Nationally about 82% of adults wear safety belts.
